The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed a real estate firm to give compensation of Rs 4.5 lakh to three complainants in three separate cases. The commission has asked Puma Realtors to give a compensation of Rs 1 lakh and refund Rs 60 lakh to Satinder Kaur Sehgal, a resident of Jalandhar.
The commission has also directed the realtor to refund Rs 52 lakh to Dinesh Seth, a resident of Mohali, and give him a compensation of Rs 1 lakh.
In the third case, the commission has asked the company to give a compensation of Rs 2.5 lakh to Manju Malhotra, a resident of Sector 40.
In a complaint filed by Satinder Kaur Sehgal, it was stated that one Shayama Goyal applied for a residential plot in the project of the real estate firm, тАШIREO HamletтАЩ. The price of the flat was Rs 57,63,570. Initially, Goyal paid Rs 6,50,000 to the real estate firm. The balance amount of the plot was to be deposited as per Development Linked Payment Plan.
However, due to some personal reasons, Goyal surrendered the plot and the same was purchased by Satinder Kaur for personal use. Though the money was deposited by Kaur to the real estate company, she was never allotted the plot. She then filed a case in the consumer courts in March 2016.
Puma Realtors said the complainants did not book the plot for personal use, but for investment and was not a consumer.
