VADODARA: Mother of a 13-year-old girl, who was allegedly raped by her school van driver for six months, alleged on Monday that she and her family was being threatened by an unidentified person and have also been offered money to withdraw the case.
The girl’s mother also alleged that the police was not registering their complaint initially and once it was registered the police did not take their statement for further investigation. She also doubted the investigations done by the police so far.
“After the FIR was registered, my daughter also revealed that on various occasions, when the arrested accused Jayesh Bharwad raped her, there used to be three to four of his friends who recorded it,” the woman said. Apart from recording in their phones, Bharwad and his friends also used to beat her and threaten her of acid attack and killing his brother, the woman added.
“It is also important that parents who send their daughters in van, keep a check on van drivers,” she said.
The woman and her daughter recorded their statements before a judicial magistrate on Monday under section 164 of Criminal Procedure Code.
The girl was allegedly raped by Bharwad for six months at a block of Mukhya Mnatri Awas Yojana (MMAY) near Sayaji Township in Bapod. A complaint was registered on June 17, after the girl broke down before her mother and told her about the torture she had been going through for six months.
