In a major development in the Malayalam actress abduction and assault case, Dileep has been granted a bail today by the Kerala High Court. He was given a conditional bail by executing a bond of Rs one lakh. This comes after the court recently extended his remand period till October 12.
Dileep’s bail plea was rejected by the court for fives times after the prosecution argued that he might tamper evidence in the case. On the other hand, Dileep’s family astrologer had predicted that he would be released after October 2. Dileep, who was arrested on the charges of criminal conspiracy earlier in July, has been lodged at a sub-jail for over 85 days now
Over the last few months, the assault case has seen several twists and turns. Prime accused Pulsar Suni has made some shocking revelations during the course of interrogation. Based on Suni’s statements, filmmaker Nadir Shah was questioned for the second time by the SIT.
Recently, the court dismissed Dileep’s wife Kavya Madhavan’s anticipatory bail plea and assured that they have no intention to arrest her.
In February this year, a popular Malayalam actress was kidnapped and molested by a gang of six men, who reportedly took pictures of the actress to blackmail her. Following Pulsar Suni’s confession that he knew Dileep and that it was his plan, the Kerala police arrested the latter.
Meanwhile, Dileep-starrer Ramaleela, which released on September 28, has opened to rave reviews in Kerala. According to sources close to Dileep, he would be released later today after fulfilling bail conditions. Dileep’s fans are planning for a grand show of his Ramleela in Kochi. They also distributed sweets to celebrate his release from jail.
