Club all petitions related to slaughter house issue in UP: High Court

The Allahabad High Court on Thursday passed an order to club all the writ petitions and PILs related to the issue of slaughter houses and slaughtering of animals in the state and fixed August 16 for final hearing of all the cases.

The court also directed concerned parties to file compilation of judgement and relevant laws on the next date of hearing to ensure final disposal of all the cases on very same date.

The bench comprising chief justice DB Bhosale and justice MK Gupta passed this order while hearing a writ petition filed by Dilshad Ahmad and several others of Gorakhpur district, who in their petition had alleged that there was no slaughter house in Gorakhpur and the government was adamant on not providing slaughter houses in the district.

The petitioner’s plea was that since there was no slaughter houses in Gorakhpur, they could not get food of their choice.

During the course of hearing, advocate general Raghvendra Singh requested the court to club together all the cases which were pending either at the Lucknow bench or at main bench ie Allahabad bench of the High Court, so that all the cases related to issue may be decided together.

On an earlier date, additional advocate general Manish Goel had requested the bench to give a week’s time to seek instructions from the state government to apprise the bench about the government’s policy in respect of establishing slaughter houses.
