National Lok Adalat at Lamphel

Under the guidelines of the National Legal Services Authority, Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) organized the second National Lok Adalat for the year, 2019 on Saturday, the 13th July, 2019 at Lamphel Court Complex for Imphal East & Imphal West districts.

Various pending cases before the courts as well as pre-litigation matters are taken up in the said National Lok Adalat for amicable settlement. National Lok Adalat is also organized at Thoubal, Bishnupur, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur & Chandel districts by the concerned District Legal Services Authorities.

His Lordship Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kh. Nobin Singh, Judge, High Court of Manipur & Executive Chairman of Manipur State Legal Services Authority visited the National Lok Adalat held at Lamphel Court and Thoubal Court Complexes. Smt. G. Gaiphulshillu, Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Services Authority also accompanied in the visit.

In the said National Lok Adalat held today for the state of Manipur, total number of 588 cases were settled with total settled amount of Rs. 4,59,66,592/- (Rupees four crores fifty-nine lakhs sixty-six thousand five hundred and ninety-two) only.

Out of which 566 are pre-litigation matters comprises of bank recovery matters, BSNL Telephone & Mobile Phone bill matters, water bill matters and 22 cases are pending before the Courts comprising of Criminal compoundable cases, Civil cases, Family Court cases, Insurance Claim cases, Negotiable Instrument Act cases etc.

Lok Adalat ensures speedy disposal of cases by amicable settlement between the parties. It saves valuable time of the parties and their witnesses and also facilitates inexpensive and prompt remedy appropriately to the satisfaction of both the parties.

Media played a valuable role in spreading information, awareness and attracting people to settle their disputes through Lok Adalat and the same is highly appreciated. It is also hoped that media shall continue to render such services in future also.
