(IANS) Tripura High Court has cancelled the transfer orders of eight medical college teachers (doctors) and asked the state government to bring them back in their original place of posting by February, a lawyer said on Tuesday.
A division bench of Tripura High Court comprising Chief Justice Akil Kureshi and Justice Arindam Lodh, while cancelling the transfer orders of eight teachers of the state government run Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital on Monday, said that their transfers were in violation of Medical Service rules.
Senior lawyers Pijush Kanti Biswas and Purosattam Roy Barman defended the teachers in the high court after they filed petitions against the Tripura government”s transfer orders dated August 3 last year.
“The high court division bench while upholding the single bench judge Subhashish Talapatra”s order said that unless any natural calamity or any catastrophe of mass disease, medical college teachers can not be transferred permanently,” Roy Barman said quoting the HC judgement.
The Tripura government had earlier filed four writ petitions before the division bench against the order of the single bench.
