Husband strips down woman, ties her limbs and sets her on fire in Agra

AGRA: In a gruesome act of domestic violence, a man along with his relatives stripped down his wife, tied her limbs and set her on fire in Agra.
The incident took place in Sayeed Nagar’s Nai Basti of Tajganj area. After the incident, the accused Shanu along with relatives are on run.
They poured down 5 liter kerosene on the victim, identified as Niloufer (27), who is mother of three kids and set her on fire on the roof at her in-laws home on Sunday afternoon.
According to Niloufer’s younger sister Roshni, “Almost every day, Shanu assaulted Niloufer mercilessly for petty issues. In fact, on several occasion, Shanu raised questions on my sister’s character and made her strip in front of kids.”
“On Sunday, he tore the clothes of my sister in front of the kids and tied her limbs. When Niloufer’s eldest son Rizwan (10) protested against the cruelty, Shanu pushed him on the ground floor and set her on fire in front of rest of the family members,” alleged Roshini.
“It was the neighbors who informed us about the incident, after black smoke coming from Shanu’s home covered the colony,” she added.
According to S N Medical college doctors, the chances of Niloufer’s survival is almost zero, as she has suffered 99 % burn injury.
Sanjay Kumar, station officer of Tajganj, told TOI, “An FIR has been lodged against five person under section 498A (Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 326 (Voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC.”
“Since all the accused are on run, we are tracing the whereabouts of the accused persons,” he added.
In the FIR, Tajganj police have booked Shanu, Ansar, Monu, Heena, Rukshana and Tasleem.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, a 20-year-old woman was tied on chair and was set on fire by in-laws and husband. The victim, identified as Babita, succumbed to her burn injuries. The incident took place in Sherkhan village of Khandauli. Police have booked four persons including victim’s husband Manish, who are at large after the incident.
